General

The Cal Poly Ballroom Dance Club is a student run organization that promotes the wonderful art of Ballroom Dancing. We love to see our members dancing and having fun. Our primary goal is to bring the joy of dancing to Cal Poly and the City of San Luis Obispo, including Cal Poly Students, Cuesta Students and the general public. Everyone is welcome!

Social Dancing

We provide public lessons on Sundays and Thursdays. We host dances too! Come to an event and you will find a pleasant atmosphere to meet new people. Also, there are many dancing venues in SLO to practice your dancing in a social setting. Social dancing is the best (and most enjoyable) way to get better. Dancing with different people and to different types of music make you a well rounded dancer. Once you get into it, you'll crave for more. Competition

For those with a competitive side, this is for you. Competing is a rush! Being on the floor with other competitors is a unique experience. Even if you don't win, one can show off what you have learned and feel the audience's applause. As a club, we attend one competition a quarter. In Fall quarter, we travel to San Jose State University. Winter, we travel to UC San Diego and we travel to Stanford in the Spring. Each of these road trips are made as inexpensive as possible and give you the most bang for your buck. There are events for all levels and dances, including Tango, Swing, Salsa, Cha-Cha, Waltz, Quickstep, Lindy Hop, Hustle, and lots more. We would love for you to join us!
