Learn from a pro… literally!

We are hosting workshops and private lessons with our Mustang Ball professional showcase couple and judges on Sunday, March 1st. We are offering some great deals for both the workshop and private lessons. Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to obtain instruction and valuable dance insights from some of this country’s top dance professionals!

These workshops will be useful to dancers of all levels. Knowledge of particular steps or figures will not be required, but some general experience in International Standard will be beneficial in taking these workshops. Both workshops will be held in the Chumash Auditorium, the same site as the Mustang Ball Dance Competition.

Group Workshop Schedule:

11:00am – 11:45am: How to master balance with Iaroslav Bieliei
11:45am – 12:30pm: Three dimensional set up and techniques with Olga Tsikalyuk
12:30pm – 1:15pm: Correct application of body contact to enhance your standard dances with Iaroslav Bieliei
1:15pm – 2:00pm: Usage of three planes of movement in standard dances with Olga Tsikalyuk

Advanced Pricing, before March 1st:

Students: $8 single lesson, $20 for all 4 ($12 and $30 at the door)
Non-students: $12 single lesson, $40 for all 4($16 and $40 at the door)

Private Lessons:

Private lessons are available with Iaroslav Bieliei, Olga Tsikalyuk, Jonathan Atkinson, and Lorena Bravo. All four of them have many years of experience in all styles of dance, including Standard, Latin, Smooth, and Rhythm. Rates are for a 45 minute lesson and are payable to the instructor at the lesson. Lessons are available on Sunday starting at 8:30am. Availability is limited, so please book your lesson early.

iaroslav[1]Iaroslav Bieliei

Iaroslav with his partner Ogla, is the current United States Professional Rising Star Standard Champion, UK Open Professional Rising Star Champion and Ohio Professional Open finalist. He is an extremely talented and successful professional Ballroom competitor and teacher. His other awards include being an Canadian Amateur Champion and Ukrainian finalist.

olga[1]Olga Tsikalyuk

Olga with her partner Iaroslav, is the current United States Professional Rising Star Standard Champion, UK Open Professional Rising Star Champion and Ohio Professional Open finalist. She is a very skilled and talented professional Ballroom dance teacher and competitor. Her other awards include being an amateur world vice champion, Russian IDU Amateur Champion, Russian Professional finalist, 2 times International Rising Star Champion.

jonathan[1]Jonathan Atkinson

Jonathan Atkinson is a longtime member of the dance community, specializing in both American and International style ballroom. He has been dancing since he was 20 years old, having started as a student at an Arthur Murray studio in Beverly Hills.

In 1994, Jonathan began competing in American smooth, climbing up the professional ranks with his wife Melissa over the next 10 years to acquire the titles of 2nd Place U.S. Rising Star Smooth Finalist, Open Professional Smooth Semi-Finalist, and 9-Dance Finalist.

In addition to significant achievements in the ballroom dancing arena, David is also active in film, stage, TV, sports, and entertainment. His dancing film credits include featured dancer roles in Dance With Me and Rent. He has coached dancing and performance for the United States Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, and Dancing with the Stars competitors.

 lorena[1]Lorena Bravo

Lorena Bravo was first introduced to the world of competitive ballroom dancing while in her freshman year at the University of Southern California. Oh a whim, she decided to take a lesson with the USC Ballroom and Latin Dance team only to find herself completely enamored with every aspect of ballroom dancing.

During her time as an amateur, Lorena competed in the International Latin, American Smooth, and American Rhythm categories. In 2007, with her last partner, Evan Yeh, she became a U.S. National Amateur finalist in American Rhythm and 9 Dance.

In October 2004, Lorena began dancing Pro/Am American Smooth with Jonathan. By 2007 they had won the U.S. Pro-Am American Smooth Championship. She turned pro the following year, and the two continued dancing together as a professional couple. Besides working on their own dancing, they are constantly working together to create the best teaching rubrics for the lessons they teach in person, and in the development of, Jonathan’s all-encompassing dance website.
